The business management team: CEO, CFO, HRD, Plant Manager, Front Office and those teams within the plant or business setting that you rely upon to get the job done.

The community development team: Volunteer organizations such as human service providers, emergency service providers, economic development organizations, civic groups all must work in teams.

The educational team: Administrators, teachers and staff persons all work as members of teams within the grade level, school and system.

The home team: Yes even within our families we must work as a team.

As you see, everyone serves on many teams, the above are just a few.
You can think of many more!

WHAT IS TYPE?

When we use the term "type" we are referring to the 16 personality types described by Carl Jung, Isable Myers and Kathleen Briggs. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® will help you identify your type.

WHY IS KNOWING ABOUT TYPE IN TEAMS IMPORTANT?

A team is a group of two or more people working together to accomplish a task.  With the explosion of knowledge in the information age and greater interdependence of different work groups, it has become clear that team members need to work together more effectively to accomplish tasks. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI) can help team members manage these roles and contribute to the team in their own unique style.

TEAMS HAVE A TYPE TOO!

Teams, just like the people on them, have a type that can be identified and understood.   If you are a team leader or project manager would it help you to know how your style of leadership will be received, where you and your team will probably succeed and what challenges you may face?  Understanding your type and the type of the team will contribute to a successful team effort.

UNDERSTANDING TYPE HELPS PEOPLE ON TEAMS TO:

  • Reduce unproductive work by improved communication
  • Identify individual and team areas of strength and weakness
  • Clarify team behavior/culture
  • Help match specific task assignments to certain MBTI® types
  • Build an objective frame work for dealing with conflict
  • Help individuals understand how different perspectives and methods can lead to useful and effective problem solving
  • Predict potential problem areas
  • Teach team members to value and work with the strengths of others
